Emory & Henry College listed among top colleges in multiple rankings including U.S. News & World Report; Washington Monthly
For 2022, Emory & Henry College is ranked 158 out of 222 National Liberals Arts Colleges.
“The rankings reflect our commitment to offer a connected liberal arts educational experience in and out of the classroom that is affordable,” said President Dr. John W. Wells. “We understand the value of connecting our education to the world of work and impacting the future economy through all types of leaders. It’s through very important student success offerings and our loyal alumni that we are making great opportunities happen here.”
The ranking takes into account the college’s performance in areas such as graduation rate, alumni giving, academic reputation, class sizes and financial support. Emory & Henry College is compared to other colleges that emphasize undergraduate education and award at least half of their degrees in the liberal arts fields of study per the survey guideline. Factors contributing to the college’s improvement include retention rate, graduation rate; and debt load to graduation.
Emory & Henry has also recently ranked among Washington Monthly’s Top Liberal Arts Colleges based on contribution to the public good in three broad categories: social mobility, research, and promoting public service; and 2021 Best Bang for the Buck Colleges, an exclusive list of schools ranked according to how well they help non-wealthy students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices.
“We’ve always been a college of opportunity and have worked hard to minimize debt for our students in need,” said Wells. “We look at merit scholarships, need based aid, and other alternatives to make our education affordable and accessible. We are committed to our region and any student who desires a degree in higher education to make a difference in the world.”
As an institution whose primary goals are based on student success and satisfaction, Emory & Henry has also been recognized as one of the renowned Colleges of Distinction. Emory & Henry is one of only 42 schools that are championed as part of Colleges That Change Lives, a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement and support of a student-centered college search process.
Emory & Henry recently welcomed its largest incoming class in its 185 year history. Emory & Henry has more than 90 academic majors and tracks, including the new Schools of Nursing and Business, as well as the robust Student Success and Career Centers. This year, the College has also announced its move to NCAA Division II athletics in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) after being accepted by the NCAA for provisional status for the next three years.
