I teach a range of courses at E&H- from Statistics for the Social Sciences to Women & Politics to the Politics of Asia. Having taught a range of courses, I enjoy leading students through traditional debates in international relations and incorporating insights from other disciplines.
In guiding students through traditional debates and research methods in political science, I encourage students to push creative and disciplinary boundaries, such as applying principles of realism to the television series the Walking Dead. In addition to publishing work on pedagogy in peer-reviewed journals, I have experience working with diverse groups of students and with teaching students abroad.
I am interested in studying conflict, whether in the world or in the classroom. My research in political science focuses on foreign policy and decision making in international conflict. I have also published work on political science pedagogy ranging from teaching research methods to kinesthetic learning in college classrooms. Most of my work is coauthored with my longtime colleagues Florian Justwan (University of Idaho) and Kayce Mobley (Bethany College).
