Hundreds of Emory & Henry College students and thousands of middle and high school students will soon be playing sports including lacrosse, track and field and soccer at the new MultiSport Complex at exit 26 just off the I-81 Emory & Henry Education Corridor. Emory & Henry spans facilities from Marion to Bristol in Virginia serving more than 1,400 students. It is estimated that the new complex will be ready for use by fall 2024.
The Bill Gatton Foundation, located in Bristol, Tennessee, has donated $2 million to Emory & Henry College to support the construction of its new equestrian center to be located adjacent to the College campus on Interstate 81, at Exit 26.
Emory & Henry College is on the move with the recent launch of its Collective Connections Campaign that took place publicly at a kick-off event during Homecoming weekend, where President John W. Wells announced that more than $5 million has already been committed to the $25 million fundraising campaign in support of student success to an audience of more than 250 supporters. Keep reading
Hundreds of students at Emory & Henry College have a new Student Success Center to call home that was dedicated Friday, September 16, during a ribbon-cutting ceremony with members of the Powell family, President John W. Wells and former President Charlie Sydnor presiding. With the Powell family’s generous and continued gifts, a new center was constructed in Wiley Hall, where a former auditorium was housed. It features a welcoming lounge with a coffee bar, a tech-savvy classroom and multiple offices for staff and students.
Emory & Henry College has shifted category rankings inU.S. News & World Report, Best Colleges for 2022-23 from National Liberal Arts College to Regional University (South), earning a Top 20 Best Colleges ranking amongst 135 peer institutions. The College also ranked 77 among the universities as a Top Performer for Social Mobility, offering a gateway to students whose families earn less than $50,000 a year and are eligible for Federal Pell Grants. Emory & Henry College officials have announced a bold plan to construct two new facilities on property it owns adjacent to Exit 26 off Interstate 81 as the College continues to expand to meet growing demand. Last week members of the executive committee of the College’s board of trustees unanimously approved constructing a new equestrian center for equine students and new athletic facilities including a multi-sport complex for track and field, soccer and lacrosse.
