Emory & Henry in Sports History
A new feature is being added to the WEHC sports broadcasts this year. During half-time of all football games and half-time of all home basketball games, not only will there be a recap of the game’s first-half action and some prognostication regarding the second half, but listeners also will hear a segment entitled Emory & Henry in Sports History, which will chronicle some of the very significant contributions Emory & Henry sports programs have made to sports on a national level.
Hosted by WEHC’s David St. Clair, Emory & Henry in Sports History will tell familiar stories and perhaps some not-so-familiar stories of Emory & Henry’s legacy in sports. Listeners to the games will hear stories about the Tangerine Bowl teams, Glenn Roberts, Monte Weaver, Margaret Hutson, Fred Selfe, Bob Johnson, Eric Scott, Earl Hawkins, Joy Scruggs, Lou Wacker, ODAC championship teams, winning streaks, Homecoming games and many more.
So, stay tuned during halftime for the games’ updates and for reports on the timeless quality of competition at Emory & Henry. These segments will be sponsored by Richard Graves Art of Abingdon, VA.
