Equine Assisted Therapy
A unique, hands-on experience blending both equine studies and psychology to provide the knowledge and skillsets for students to become certified therapists.
This interdisciplinary program blends the College’s expertise in equine studies and psychology to create an opportunity for students who are interested in utilizing their knowledge and love of horses in order to offer therapeutic services to children and adults. The Equine Assisted Therapy major is intended to equip students with a thorough knowledge of human psychology and psychopathology and how horses may be used in order to improve the psychological adjustment of a range of individuals.
Upon graduating, students will be prepared to go into the field of work or can choose a great fit of continuing their education at Emory & Henry College with our Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program.
In addition, it is intended to prepare students to become EAGALA® (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association) certified therapists, the standard-setting organization in this field.
