Privacy Policy

The E&H Library is committed to protecting the privacy of our users.

Our policies conform to the Code of Ethics of the American Library Association which provides this summation of our commitment to privacy: “We protect each library user’s right to privacy and confidentiality with respect to information sought or received and resources consulted, borrowed, acquired, or transmitted.”

All library records and other information relating to an individual’s use of the Library and its resources are considered confidential. These records include, but are not limited to, circulation records of library materials, address and other registration information, use of library spaces, use of research services, reference or informational questions asked, interlibrary loan transactions, and computer database searches. This information may be consulted and used by library staff in carrying out library operations. Access to this information will be restricted to authorized staff within the Library and the College for authorized reasons, as determined by the Director of the Library. The Library will release an individual’s library information only to that individual, to another individual with the prior written consent of the individual concerned, or under a duly authorized judicial process. The individual requesting the information must provide proof of identity.

Library Web Privacy

Emory & Henry College, and by extension the Library, uses Google Analytics to capture and analyze web statistics. The information gathered is used to improve web services for site users. Google Analytics uses a browser cookie to gather and process data related to your browsing behavior on library websites. Data typically collected include Network Location; Hostname; web pages requested; referring web page; browser used; screen resolution; date and time. You may opt-out by turning off cookies in your browser preferences if you choose.
