Rob Goldsmith Honored by E&H Alumni Association
Rob is President and CEO of People Incorporated of Virginia. People Incorporated is “one of the Commonwealth of Virginia’s largest and most successful Community Action Agencies. Now serving Buchanan, Dickenson, Russell, Washington, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Frederick, Culpeper, Fauquier, Rappahannock, and Prince William Counties and the cities of Bristol, Manassas, and Manassas Park, People Incorporated offers almost 30 programs designed to, ‘give people a hand up, not a hand out.’” (People Incorporated website.)
Rob has over 40 years of experience with the agency and is a Certified Community Action Professional. Goldsmith oversees a staff of nearly 300, manages an annual budget of over $30 million, provides leadership and staff support to the agency board of directors, and acts as a liaison between the agency and legislative partners, funders, organizational partners and the national Community Action network.
Goldsmith was recently awarded the Lyndon Baines Johnson Human Services Award by the National Community Action Partnership in recognition of his outstanding achievements in support of Community Action. (Read more in the E&H Alumni News.)
The letter of nomination submitted to support his selection sang praises for his creative solutions to complicated problems. “Rob has found innovative ways to meet the community’s needs, raising more than $60 million in capital for affordable housing development in distressed rural counties in Virginia. People Inc. currently manages 30 affordable housing properties across Virginia and Tennessee.”
