Record Enrollment Brings New Staff

Emory & Henry College recently welcomed its largest incoming class in its 185-year history, with a total of 436 students incoming for the fall semester in addition to more than 650 returning students. With hundreds of students coming from Virginia and the region,and more than 47% of students joining the campus from out of state and nine different countries, the College worked throughout the summer to staff a more robust Student Success Center.

“It is our deepest honor to journey alongside students during this time in their lives,” said Travis Proffitt, dean of student success. There are 14 staff members, including Gus the therapy dog, who are on hand for students now and will work in the new Student Success Center to be located in the renovated Wiley Hall Auditorium.

    Carriger Renovation Kick-off

    Through generous donor support and anticipated tax credits, funding for the renovation of Carriger Hall to serve as the home of the Emory & Henry School of Business has been completed. More than $5 million has been raised and pledged. Historic Carriger Hall, formerly a men’s dormitory, is being renovated to accommodate high-tech classrooms and a new spacious, multi-tiered outdoor gathering space for the entire campus to enjoy.
