Loved Ones Remembered

The Department of World Languages and students created an altar on display in Wiley Hall to recognize Dia de los Muertos—the Day of the Dead—a holiday celebrated on Nov. 1. Dia de los Muertos honors the dead with festivals and lively celebrations, a typically Latin American custom that combines indigenous Aztec ritual with Catholicism. Students participated by leaving their paintings in honor of loved ones on the altar.

    Emory & Henry College recently welcomed its largest incoming class in its 185-year history, with a total of 436 students incoming for the fall semester in addition to more than 650 returning students.   • Rowlett Provides Scholarships for Students in Need

    The College has received a $2.3 million gift from the estate of Agnes T. Rowlett to create an endowed scholarship for students who have financial need. Mrs. Rowlett’s husband, the late Col. Allen B. Rowlett, was a member of the Emory & Henry College Class of 1935.
