Each year students showcase their projects to the campus, community, alumni, parents and community partners on Ampersand Day in the spring.

Ampersand 2021 Virtual Edition logo The community celebrated virtually this year for Ampersand “Week” as students showcased their research and projects over a period of four days. COVID-19 Biochemistry: Understanding the Spike Protein of SARS-CoV-2 with SARS-CoV-2 Spike Antigen in the Prefusion Conformation by student researchers Anna Fuller, Sierra McCray and Ian Graham (not pictured) with faculty mentor Dr. Jamie Ferguson.

    Fleet Trains in National Program

    Dr. Christine Fleet, E&H professor of biology, was chosen to attend a training session with the Genomics Education Partnership, where she learned from biology faculty from around the country.

    “I was able to bring tools back that will let students use genomics databases to interpret genetic information related to the insulin signaling pathway in fruit flies, and potentially have the opportunity to publish their results,” said Fleet.
