Jordan Hawkins, ‘18, Interns for the International Christian Concern

Hawkins spent her summer as a communications intern for the International Christian Concern, an organization that works to advocate, assist, and raise awareness for the persecuted church.

The Abingdon, Virginia native conducted interviews, wrote articles, and was responsible for reaching out to millions of followers on the organization’s social media accounts. While an internship is required for her mass communication degree, Hawkins believes this was a great opportunity and a way to get into the field and see if this was something she would like to do long term. She says,” we hear so much in college about being prepared for the work force but I realized that yes you will be prepared but it is okay to learn and grow and get a job that stretches you.” After graduating she is not sure what she wants to do but that she would love to work in an organization similar to International Christian Concern.
