Shelby Hughes to pursue a career in theatre
Our Emory & Henry seniors are preparing to graduate and change the world.
Shelby will graduate with the class of 2023. In addition to her studies in theatre, Hughes is a member of Emory Activities Board, Pi Sigma Kappa, Alpha Psi Omega, Sigma Alpha Kappa and Gamma Sigma Alpha.
“I have had an amazing experience at Emory. I have learned about my craft from all angles, performance, tech, research, and everything in between,” Hughes said. “The professors here helped me form a base and grow immensely in my time here. I feel confident going out into the world with the skill set I have gained. The department also adapted very well to accommodate for the evolving workforce. During covid, we learned how to make theatre online. Since the theatre world is moving towards self tape auditions, we’re learning how to record amazing self tapes and present ourselves in the physical audition room. We’ve learned how to represent ourselves and how we can continue to do so as we evolve as humans.”
“I am in the process of submitting as many auditions as I can so that I can have a job and will be working other places until I find something I love,” Hughes said.
