Biology Professor Dr. Argyros’ travels to study healed limb-bone fractures

by Christy Fleet

“Lions, tigers, and bears oh my! (wolves and hyenas, too!).” From Boston to Berlin, chair of biology Dr. George C. Argyros is investigating evidence of healed limb-bone fractures and osteoarthritis in carnivores while on sabbatical. His research examines differences in the prevalence of injury and healing, correlated with the degree of gregarious behaviours of species. His research travels have taken him to 13 natural history museums from North America to the UK, and to multiple countries throughout western Europe this spring and summer. If you are interested in this type of research and would like to see how you can get involved, feel free to stop by and chat with Dr. A!
