Dr. Jonathan Lindsay researches state dependent learning in C elegans
Summer research updates: Dr. Jonathan Lindsay has been running experiments on nicotine state-dependent learning. His current work is investigating genes involved in ethanol state-dependent learning to see if they are also required in nicotine-dependent state dependent learning. The genes of interest for this project are hen-1 and scd-2. Dr. Lindsay’s work uses the model organism C elegans (pictured), a nematode worm that is a very useful study system for medically-relevant research. This research can be used to demonstrate how chemical substances impact learning. Contact Dr. Lindsay at jhlindsay@ehc.edu to find out more about his research and opportunities for students to get involved.
