Chandler Copeland
Chandler Copeland, ATC understands hard work pays off. After graduation, Chandler returned to the Tidewater area and began working with Bon Secours Health System, contracted to Churchland High School. He knew he wanted to be an athletic trainer, but was not always sure of what population he wanted to work with until one experience helped make that decision easier: Clinic-Outreach.
“As a part of our curriculum, all seniors are required to volunteer for a local AAU wrestling tournament to better understand the role athletic trainers play in the clinical outreach setting. During this experience, the senior students are given a taste of preparing for a large-scale event and managing anything that happens during the tournament. This experience helped me find what population I enjoyed being an Athletic Trainer for the most. I cannot wait to start my new job and implement things I have learned even just from that single experience alone.”

This program has prepared me for the next big step in life. The people associated with the Emory & Henry Athletic Training department are truly unforgettable. They push you towards great things and challenge you to learn for yourself, while they hide in the background just in case you fall. What they do here is remarkable in the sense that they promote such an active learning environment that is almost indistinguishable from real life at times. I am terribly sad to leave, but at the same time, I know for a fact that I am ready.
