You’ve done a lot in your time at Emory & Henry - double majored, completed a semester abroad, been an athlete, and a member of the Honors program.  As you complete your college career, what would you say has enabled you to be successful?

The support I have received, especially from both the chemistry department and the athletics department, has allowed me to accomplish more than I could have imagined. I have developed close personal relationships with the faculty here, and they have pushed me far beyond what I had thought myself capable of. I cannot thank them enough for their encouragement and the amount of time they have set aside for me throughout the last four years to get me to where I am now.

What advice would you give those who are thinking about majoring in chemistry?

Be brave!  Chemistry seems like an intimidating subject, but don’t be discouraged. The faculty here is incredible and so willing to share their knowledge. They go above and beyond to ensure the success of their students, both in and out of the classroom. You aren’t just a number here; your professors know you by name and truly care about you.

You’ve recently been accepted into a number of Chemistry graduate programs.  Can you tell us a little about what you plan to do?

I will be attending Colorado State University where I received a full tuition waiver and a yearly stipend to pursue my PhD in Chemistry.
