Amanda Whitlow
I will graduate from Emory & Henry College in May 2019 with a Bachelors of Science degree with a double major in Biology and Chemistry. While being a student, I have had several opportunities to participate in a wide variety of extracurricular activities such as being a member of the varsity softball team, Bonner Program, Honors Program, Tri-Beta (BBB) Biological Honor Society, Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, and the Blue & Gold Ambassador Program. I also completed an Honors thesis titled: Molecular Methodologies for Assessing Prevalence of Vector-Borne Disease in Hard-bodied Ticks: A Biogeographic Analysis of Pathogen, Vector, and Reservoir Hosts. After graduation, I plan to attend Virginia Tech in the Fall of 2019 to obtain a MSLS (Master of Science in Life Sciences) degree in Entomology with a concentration in vector-borne disease. Emory & Henry has provided me with a strong foundation in both research and education in Biology and Chemistry that will aid in my future endeavors. I have been fortunate as an undergraduate student at Emory & Henry to be under the tutelage of many wonderful professors who strive to ensure the success of their students.
