Kristi Angelopoulou

Associate Professor Physical Therapy

Dr. Angelopoulou joined the faculty of Emory & Henry College in 2015.  She is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Health Sciences with an appointment in the Department of Physical Therapy.  Dr. Angelopoulou has been a Licensed Physical Therapist since 2002 and is Board Certified as an Orthopaedic Specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.  Additionally, she holds a Mastery Certificate in Manual Therapy and is Certified in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Imaging.  Dr. Angelopoulou is a retired Certified Athletic Trainer (NATA, 1997-2011) and is a certified Health Fitness Instructor through the American College of Sports Medicine.  Dr. Angelopoulou has been selected to be an item writer for the Specialization Academy of Content Experts in Orthopedics, and will serve a 2 year term with the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.

Dr. Angelopoulou’s areas of research include medical screening and differential diagnosis as well as the use of dynamic musculoskeletal ultrasound in the differential diagnosis process.

Professional Experience

Dr. Angelopoulou brings a strong background of clinical experience to our program.  She has worked in sports medicine and outpatient orthopedics for 18 years prior to joining the faculty at Emory & Henry College.  Dr. Angelopoulou has worked with Division I and Division III athletics with the University of Central Florida and Minnesota State University.  She was the Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex and was the Director of Rehabilitation of a large orthopaedic practice for 10 years, where she specialized in treating orthopaedic conditions.
