Teri McClure Gilley
Teri Gilley has been an occupational therapist since 2000. She first recognized her passion for occupational therapy education as a graduate student at Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA. There she served as a third-year graduate assistant for first-year students. Due to this experience, Teri elected to take a Research & Education course of study at Shenandoah.
Teri has continued this passion for education through presentations on Occupational Therapy and PsychoSocial Rehabilitation as well as Occupational Therapy in Inclusive Early Childhood Settings. She has also provided numerous consultations for general education and special education teachers and administrators.
Teri is from Chilhowie, VA and is very excited to be part of Emory & Henry College’s Occupational Therapy program. She values the design of the curriculum in serving rural, underserved populations. Teri is looking forward to educating quality occupational therapists to serve Southwest Virginia and surrounding areas.

Professional Experience
Teri began her career working as an occupational therapist at Southwestern Virginia Mental Health Institute serving patients in acute and long-term care units.
Following three years of service in mental health, Teri accepted an opportunity to explore pediatric therapy. She served one year as a contracted therapist to Bristol, VA Public Schools, and Washington County Schools through Watauga Physical Therapy, Inc. in Abingdon, VA.
Teri served as Occupational Therapist for Smyth County Schools for twelve years. Teri’s passion is school-based therapy, and she has achieved Board Certification in Pediatrics from the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).
Teri has completed AOTA’s Fieldwork Educator Workshop and holds a Certificate in Fieldwork Education. She is also a Certified Trauma Professional.
