HEERF III Student Funds Distribution Plan

The American Rescue Plan (ARP) was signed in to law on March 11, 2021. The ARP provides for education stabilization through emergency funding to institutions of higher education through Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds (HEERF III). Emory & Henry College received $1,710,087 to distribute to students as emergency financial aid grants to students which can be used for any component of the student’s cost of attendance (including tuition and fees) or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus (including healthcare, childcare, food, and housing).

This summer a small portion of these funds was distributed through an application process (the overflow requests from the third round of the HEERF II distribution). We will be distributing the remaining 1.6 million dollars through an automatic distribution process involving 6 bands.

Per the federal government, Emory & Henry must prioritize students with students with exceptional needs. To make that determination, we are using estimated family contributions (EFC), and Pell eligibility to determine the amounts of funds to be distributed, and grants will be distributed in a tiered fashion, with those who are Pell Eligible receiving larger amounts. Estimated Family Contributions are based on your most recent FASFA. We know that all students have continued to experience economic hardships during this time, even those who have not completed a FASFA. Therefore, those who have not completed a FASFA will also receive a small grant. All undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in at least 3 credit hours in the Fall 2021 semester are eligible.

Band 1, Estimated Family Contribution of $0 - $99:
$2,000

Band 2, Estimated Family Contribution of $100 - $5846:
$1,500

Band 3,Estimated Family Contribution of $5847 - $15,000:
$1,000

Band 4, Estimated Family Contribution of $15,002-20,000:
$750

Band 5, Estimated Family Contribution of greater than $20,000:
$500

Band 6, No FAFSA on file:
$500

When you receive these funds, you may choose to:

  • Apply these funds to any unpaid balances
  • (For those with current zero balances) Receive a credit on their account for future balances
  • Receive a paper or e-check

These continue to be difficult times. For those with outstanding balances we encourage you to consider applying these funds to your account. We want to see all of you continue your education with us in the spring, as a quality education is very important. Most importantly, we want you to be healthy and well.
