Jack Wells
Dr. Wells studies political and religious history of the ancient Mediterranean, teaches courses on the history of pre-modern Europe, the history of China, and on the myths and rituals of the ancient world.
In 2010, Dr. Wells received the Exemplary Teaching Award from the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry of the United Methodist Church.

Research
Recent research works include a study of temple plundering in Italy during the third and second centuries BCE and an examination of the connections between religion and politics in the first century BCE.
Student Research:
Currently supervising a student honors thesis on Christian heresies in the 4th and 5th centuries CE.
Upcoming Research:
Planning a work that will examine the religious aspects of the rivalry between the Roman orator Cicero (106-43 BCE) and his enemy P. Clodius Pulcher (ca. 92-52 BCE).
