Carrie L Childers
Carrie Childers comes to Emory & Henry with a diverse set of life experiences. She trained as a speech-language pathologist and spent a decade working with children and adolescents in a variety of medical and educational settings. After this, she pursued her Ph.D., where she conducted research into child, adolescent, and young adult traumatic brain injury outcomes and interventions.
After Dr. Childers completed her degree, she joined Marshall University in Huntington, WV where she spent the next nine years as a member of the Communication Disorders faculty. During this time, in addition to her teaching, clinical supervision, and other service appointments, Dr. Childers took on the primary responsibility for her department’s undergraduate and graduate assessment, served on the university assessment committee, and was an active member of the faculty senate.
Dr. Childers is passionate about the potential of well-designed assessments to facilitate student success and positive institutional outcomes. She is dedicated to helping others understand and implement best assessment practices within their departments and offices.
