Student-Athletes Earn Academic Honors

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference has recognized 183 E&H student-athletes who have earned academic honors for the 2020-21 academic year. One hundred thirty-seven student-athletes from the College’s 20 ODAC-sponsored programs were named to the ODAC All-Academic Team while an additional 46 from men’s and women’s wrestling, the Intermont Equestrian, cheer and dance teams earned the designation of Emory & Henry All-Academic.

Eligibility for the ODAC All-Academic Team or Emory & Henry Scholar-Athlete is open to any student-athlete who participates in an E&H varsity sport, regardless of academic class. He or she must achieve at least a 3.25 grade point average for the year to be considered.

    Seymore Excels During Summer ROTC Training Camp

    Cadet Zane Seymore, E&H senior from Glade Spring, Va., spent a month this past summer at Fort Knox, Ky., completing the Army’s ROTC Advanced Camp. A 31-day training event, the Advanced Camp is designed to assess a cadet’s ability to demonstrate proficiency in basic officer leadership tasks. They are mentally and physically tested during a 12-day consequence driven field training exercise that replicates a combat training center rotation.

  • Powell Family Continues to Support Student Success

    The Powell Family Foundation and Paul A. “Buzzy” Powell, Jr. ’68 are providing $400,000 in support of the College’s new Student Success Center. The Center will be located in the former Wiley Hall auditorium, which is currently undergoing a complete renovation. The Center will be named in memory of Paul A. Powell, III.
