Professional Mentorship Networking Opportunity for Pre-Health Students during COVID-19 Pandemic

*Currently working on an online didactic curriculum for a VA Hybrid program.

Most course expenses are covered by the Pre-Health Program & FMM.

Lab classes meet Mondays 1:30-5:30 pm on the Emory campus.

Clinical experiences will be scheduled at the Francis Marion Manor.

Courses are offered for free

• White scrub top and navy blue scrub bottoms, nonpermeable closed-toed shoes are required for labs and clinicals.  
• Virginia CNA courses are a mandatory 140 hours.
• Tennessee CNA courses are 100 hours. 

You can train and test in one state and apply for reciprocity of your certification in another state. 

Online Hybrid Course (TN only) 

In-person skills sessions will require transportation to Bristol, Kingsport, and Johnson City, TN.

Financial Assistance for those who qualify reduces the cost to $73.30

PreHealth can reimburse up to 50% of the tuition for qualifying members.

Phlebotomy Technician Certification with MedCerts

12-week online class

Must have a clinical site where you can perform the required venipunctures and capillary sticks.

Course fee $1,545

FastForward Virginia price is $515.00 for Virginia residents  (E&H students are in-state)

Pacific Medical Training- medical scribe

Great way to get experience while engaging with patients and providers.

Online courses are available at pacificmedicaltraining.com  the cost of the program is $299 Prehealth can pay half the registration fee.

ETSU Office of Professional Development offers an 11-week certification course. 

Classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:00-9:00 pm on the ETSU campus in Johnson City, TN. 

• September 5- December 5, 2023
• $500 course fee includes textbooks. Price increases to $600 after that early bird deadline, August 30. 
• Limited to 35 participants max. 
• PreHealth can reimburse 50% of costs for qualifying members.

Children’s Resource Center at Johnston Memorial Hosptial

We have an internship based at the JMH Children’s Resource Center working with the Health Promotion Coordinator. 

The CRC works to improve community health by investing in the health of children. Interns will work with area healthcare providers, schools & community agencies to support programming.  

• Limited to 1 intern per semester

Camp Leaders

The Healthcare Careers Summer Camp will be hiring students to work with our camps this summer.  Students will be needed on-site (day camp  & residential) for each week of the camp in June. 

Site leaders will assist the Site Coordinator(s) for the week.  Additionally, staff will need to stay on campus and help with evening programming.
