Curriculum

Emory & Henry College takes great pride in the liberal arts foundation. BSN nurses who graduate will have this knowledge base to enhance the perspective of healthcare on a local, national and global level.

Students accepted into the RN to BSN Program will be allowed to transfer in 39 credits achieved through their nursing courses. General education which meet the CORE requirements will be determined according to the courses accepted from previous institutions, (i.e., Anatomy & Physiology, English, etc.).

The RN to BSN program can be completed both in a one-year accelerated track or in a part-time, two-year program.

The sequencing listed below includes only nursing curriculum courses. Students may be required to take additional CORE courses to complete the liberal arts curriculum.

**Some of the BSN Major Completion courses do have clinical and lab requirements. Clinical may take place in the hospital or healthcare facility where the student is employed, community agencies throughout the region, and the lab components will be offered at the Health Sciences Campus Clinical Simulation Lab.

E&H School of Nursing Offers New Dates for Health Assessment Course for RNs and RN-Nursing Students

The Emory & Henry School of Nursing is offering new date options for the four-or-six session Health Assessment course for registered nurses (RNs) or RN nursing students now beginning on Friday, September 22 at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon, Va. for only $75 in support of regional healthcare. The Friday, September 22, and Friday, October 20 classes offer the option for online or in-person attendance.

On Saturday, August 12, at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon, Va., 103 students graduated from Emory & Henry College’s School of Health Sciences, marking a milestone of the largest graduating class to date. Additionally, the College celebrated the inaugural cohorts of the Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and the Doctor of Occupational Therapy. Many other students graduated with a Master of Physician Assistant Studies or a Doctorate of Physical Therapy.

The DPT Class of 2024 Earn Their White Coats

The Emory & Henry Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program housed in the School of Health Sciences on the Marion campus held a traditional White Coat Ceremony on Friday, June 23, 2023, at the Lincoln Theatre in Marion.

The White Coat Ceremony signifies the beginning of the year-long clinical rotation component of the program as a physical therapy student and comes following two years focused on the didactic portion of students’ training.

Emory & Henry College launches new Master of Science in Addiction Counseling Program

Emory & Henry College School of Health Sciences is launching a new Master of Science in Addiction Counseling Program in the fall of 2023. The online program is a 60-credit, 24-month program, consisting of six consecutive semesters. The master’s degree program prepares addiction counselors for a rewarding profession that emphasizes the prevention of emotional and mental health concerns, early intervention when problems are identified, and client empowerment. The program will be housed in the Department of Clinical Mental Health Counseling alongside the 60-credit Clinical Mental Health Counseling master’s degree.
