Why Sociology at E&H?

Sociology, broadly defined, is the study of social life. Sociology makes the familiar seem unfamiliar, and thus challenges our assumptions about why people behave the way they do.

At E&H we study society with a cross-cultural approach, then equip students with statistical analysis and research skills so that we can apply what we learn to address real problems in our local community and abroad.

Sociology is widely applicable.

Humans are social creatures, with complex social practices. This means that Sociology can be applied in any setting. Regardless of your specific career goals - a background in Sociology can inform your approach to your work environment.

Your Sociology degree can be tailored to fit the specific direction of your career interests. Our department develops new opportunities and works closely with other programs on campus to ensure that students have the necessary flexibility to follow their career and educational goals.
