Study Abroad
Would you like to spend a formative semester in France or Spain? Would you like to visit Argentina, China, Cuba, Guatemala, or Mexico with an Emory & Henry instructor? Now it is possible! Study abroad trips are open to all students. If you major in Spanish Language and Culture Studies, you will be encouraged to study abroad during your junior year. For more info, you can see our Study Abroad page.
Biliteracy Certificate
Want a credential to show future employers you have the language skills to make you more marketable? The Global Seal of Biliteracy may be just what you’re looking for! The Certificate is available at two levels of proficiency, intermediate-mid, and advanced-low. If you’re interested in learning more, check out our Biliteracy Certificate page.
Community Engagement
The Spanish program is committed to serving the Hispanic community of the area. The upper-level Spanish courses include a service-learning component in which students are able to develop relationships with Hispanic native speakers while improving their world language skills.
Practicing languages and learning cultures
The World Languages Department offers co-curricular activities to practice languages and learn more about other cultures. This international approach prepares you to understand a world without subtitles. You can join the Spanish Club, which offers multiple game sessions, cooking and dance classes, free movies, etc., during the semester. If you minor or major in Spanish, you may qualify to join the Spanish Honors Society: Sigma Delta Pi.
