Can I live off-campus in a rented apartment or house?

Emory & Henry College requires that all students live in College-owned residence halls unless they are:

  • residing at the permanent address of a parent, legal guardian, or spouse. This does not include property rented or owned by a parent, legal guardian, or spouse outside of the permanent address.
  • twenty-three years of age or older, or will be twenty-three years of age within the academic year (fall and spring semester).
  • part-time students with eight or fewer semester hours.
  • transferring from an accredited community college two years or more after graduating from high school, and must be at junior level classification based on the required credit hours stated in the Academic Catalog.
  • students who are registered with the Office of Academic Support and Disability Services with documented medical needs that cannot be accommodated within the residence halls.
  • students with documented personal considerations who can demonstrate an effort to explore resources made available through various related offices (i.e. Housing & Residence Life, Financial Aid, Business Office, Powell Resource Center, etc.) and whose needs cannot be accommodated within the residence halls.
