Main Content Zane Moran ‘19, Studies Salamanders and Climate Change

Moran is a Ledford Scholar who is exploring the relationship between climate change and salamander lengths in hopes to find a new indicator of climate change.

A river located in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, one of the parks where the salamander data we used was collected This research has allowed him to pursue a deeper knowledge and familiarity of statistical methods and software.

The Floyd, Virginia native has been able to take his love for math and apply that to a social issue.

Moran hopes this research has the potential to expand further.

He plans on focusing his senior thesis on predicting locations where major league baseball players will come from internationally.

After Emory & Henry College he hopes to pursue a career working in baseball.
