Dear Alumni and Friends,
During the past year, the Emory & Henry community has celebrated achievements that have strengthened and enriched the institution – financial support for major programs, new construction and increased enrollments. However, as we have labored toward these accomplishments, we have not forgotten that Emory & Henry is dedicated fundamentally to the success of students. Within a few months, the community will see an extraordinary representation of this commitment through the expansion and augmentation of its student success center.
The College currently is transforming the century-old Wiley Hall Auditorium into the new home for the Paul Adrian Powell III Student Success Center, expanding the space for the center while bringing together key programs intended to boost significantly the efficacy of its purpose. The work of an impressive staff of student success professionals will be enhanced by a space designed for constructive collaboration, quiet consultation and inspired optimism and marked by brightness, spaciousness and a sense of history.
In the past few years, Emory & Henry has not only enlarged its student enrollment, but it has greatly diversified the composition of its student body. This growth and change in the student population demands that we provide services to students that meet a wider variety of challenges and opportunities confronting students on their pathways to fulfillment. The source of our recent success at Emory & Henry has been our heightened awareness that students today continually must adapt to a changing world, and a college that desires relevancy must also skillfully adjust.
As you read this magazine, you likely will be struck by the many ways Emory & Henry has changed in recent years and plans to grow in the future. As a graduate or friend of the institution, you no doubt cherish Emory & Henry’s traditions, which include an intense focus on student success. My hope is that you will see in the advancement of this institution not just change, but an evolution that serves the continued application of our values.
