Students from three Emory & Henry mass communications classes developed media materials – audio PSAs, a press kit and a PR package – for several Southwest Virginia Federally Qualified Health Centers to raise awareness for colorectal cancer. “The quality of the students’ products were top notch,” said Jaime Zoellner, associate director of the University ofVirginia’s Cancer Center Without Walls.
The students whose work was selected were Tara Sanders, Alexa Shockley, Jacob Cordle, Asha Thomas, Mikayla McCray, Austin Faris, Ben McCloskey and Laura Hay. The PSAs were aired on WEHC 90.7.
“Knowing my class project is actually for a client is an exciting opportunity because it’s like a glimpse into what the world of work or even an internship would look like,” said Shockley. =
