Students Volunteer at Migrant Health Fair

Anna Fuller, a senior at Emory & Henry who interned at the Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems, Alianza de Salud, asked her fellow Spanish students to volunteer at the drive-through health fair in May. Community members received free health screenings and other health services.

“It’s important to me to be involved with the event to better connect with the community I live in,” said Fuller. The E&H Introductory Medical Spanish students distributed health comic books that they researched and created during Spring semester. Upper-level Spanish students volunteered as interpreters.

    When the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center put their “College for Older Adults” (COA) online, they quickly changed the name to “College for Online Adults,” changed the age limits, and invited anyone who wished to participate.
