More Than A Vacation Celebrates 30 Years

E&H Lifelong Learning events happen year-round, but the event that started it all is our summer alumni college, More Than A Vacation. This year marks our 30th year of MTAV, and activities will be online and in-person. We will be celebrating the many pearls of wisdom we’ve gathered while having 30 years of fun.

    Newly Commissioned Cadets

    The College held its fourth contracting ceremony in April and recognized cadets Andreia Langley and Antonio Washington. The contracting ceremony indicated Langley and Washington had stated their oath to serve in the United States Army. Unlike non-contracted cadets, a contracted cadet is considered a military member and will gain the rank of second lieutenant (2LT) upon graduation. Contracting is a vital part of a cadet’s journey through ROTC, as it shows commitment to being a future leader in the military.

    Early this year, education leaders signed a partnership agreement between Emory & Henry College and the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon, Va., to expand the region’s educational opportunities and bring new healthcare and business programs to the area.
