Happy Alumni Come From Emory & Henry College

Emory & Henry has been placed on Forbes magazine’s Top 200 schools with Grateful Grads.

Emory & Henry College is pleased to announce a recent ranking on Forbes magazine’s website, naming us in the top 200 of schools with grateful graduates. The list ranked E&H at number 82 out of 200 schools whose alumni are active in giving back to their undergraduate school.

From the article: “The index ranks private not-for-profit colleges with more than 500 students using two variables: the median of total private donations per enrolled student over the last seven years, as reported to the Department of Education, and the alumni participation rate, or the percentage of graduates that give back in the form of donations to their colleges each year, regardless of dollar amount. The alumni participation rate, compiled by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), is averaged over three years. Total median dollar donations are given a 70% weighting in the index and the alumni participation is given 30%.”

While bigger schools with a larger graduate pool or ones with a STEM focus might usually take up the top slots, this ranking gave special considerations to smaller liberal arts colleges, focusing more on alumni happiness and frequency of giving. Emory & Henry alumni have multiple opportunities to give back and connect with each other throughout the year. Monica Hoel, Director of Alumni Affairs, has aided in organizing several events for alumni. Most recently she organized E&H in the City, an event happening all around the globe as alumni are encouraged to participate in happy hour at a city near them. “We had alums check in from Abingdon to Alabama, even from Nuremburg and the Bahamas,” Monica remarked about E&H in the City. “We also heard from young alums who are using it for networking in their new communities.”

Emory & Henry College is committed to providing a memorable experience for its students and allowing its alumnus to reconnect with the campus. We offer a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees, along with RN to BSN training and adult education courses.
