Tutors are available to help guide you through the process of understanding the subject matter. They will not do your homework for you or answer questions without challenging you to think.
To make the most of your time:
Study the course material and attempt the assigned problems before you go to tutoring for help
Try to identify specific questions/concepts you need to address during the session
Expect the tutor to ask you questions about the material. They do this to find out what you understand and to try to tailor the session to your needs
Be patient. For in-person tutoring, several students may come for tutoring at the same time. If tutors are especially busy, you may have to wait to get assistance.
For remote tutoring—sessions must be scheduled 24 hours in advance. Plan ahead.
Expect the tutor to suggest general study strategies to help you improve.
Don’t wait until the day before a test to seek assistance. It is easier to keep up than to catch up!
Use other resources such as your professor’s office hours, SI sessions, study groups, or online resources
Be consistent. If tutoring sessions are helpful, consider scheduling a recurring weekly session
