Accreditation

The nationally recognized accrediting body for counseling programs is the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).

Our programs have been intentionally designed around the CACREP standards. It is the policy of CACREP to accredit programs that have graduated at least one cohort of students. Our department has applied for CACREP accreditation (June 2023) for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree program and will apply for the Addiction Counseling degree program during the semester that we have a first cohort of graduates. Please know this is a declaration of our intentions, not a guarantee of accreditation.

Students in a program seeking accreditation shall be considered graduates of a CACREP program if they receive their degree within eighteen (18) months prior to when accreditation is conferred.

The Clinical Mental Health Counseling program has been approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
