The community celebrated the new E&H Thrift Store with a ribbon cutting, and students in attendance had the opportunity to shop afterward. Provided for Emory & Henry students, the E&H Thrift Store is unlike any other shopping experience. The store does not accept money for the exchange of clothing. Instead, students can choose to “pay” for items in one of four ways: volunteer to work a shift at the store; donate a gently used item; share a social media post about the store; or fill out a quick survey at check out. The store was made possible by the Appalachian Center for Civic Life.

    Honoring Ashleigh

The College formally dedicated the Ashleigh “Stardust” Langbein Memorial Fund scholarship to honor the late Ashleigh Langbein, ’16. The fund was initiated in 2020 to provide support opportunities for theatre students to expand their training beyond the College through related workshops and conferences. It will help these students continue their education while keeping Ashleigh’s memory alive in the campus community. The ceremony concluded with remarks from Ashleigh’s parents and co-founders of the Ashleigh Langbein Project, Russell and Paula Langbein, who visited from Katy, Texas, to attend the signing in memory of their daughter.
