WEHC and E&H Honor Donors in Lobby Dedication

WEHC and E&H Honor Donors Dr. T. Edward Damer and Nancyjean Bradford in Lobby Dedication.

On Dec. 11, administrators and listeners of WEHC 90.7 FM gathered in the outer lobby of WEHC’s Allison Studio Suite in the McGlothlin Center for the Arts to celebrate its dedication to recent donor, professor emeritus, and longtime show host Dr. T. Edward Damer and his wife, Nancyjean Bradford. The College honored the couple’s donation with a plaque, associating their names with the studio’s for all time.

“I’ll let you in on a little secret,” Damer told the circle of patrons, “the studio was not originally planned to go in this building. I was a part of the planning committee for the MCA and there were no plans to include WEHC until I was approached by Teresa Keller.” Everyone proceeded to chuckle at this as it is a well-known fact that former General Manager of WEHC, Dr. Teresa Keller, had a way of making the station thrive by getting what she wanted. Damer continued, “I somehow walked away from that meeting with a spot carved out for the radio station, and I think it has been a good addition.”

“This donation is a sign of support for the public radio tradition,” said Richard Graves, General Manager of WEHC. “Ed Damer’s show, Do the Right Thing, has been a long time standard for our station. This dedication, the plaque, is really the least we can do for someone who has already given us so much.”

Do the Right Thing is a philosophy based program on WEHC that provides ethical discussions between two philosophy professors: Ed Damer and current Emory & Henry professor, Taylor Stone. The donation is designated for the Teresa Keller WEHC Endowed Fund, which provides crucial funding to the daily operating budget of WEHC.
