Amanda Fleenor
Professor Fleenor currently serves as the Director of Didactic Education and as a Principal Faculty member for the Emory and Henry College School of Health Sciences Department of Physician Assistant Studies. She also serves as Course Director for the Clinical Skills courses as well as co-course director of the Advanced Clinical Skills and Emergency Medicine Course and lecturer for Clinical Medicine Courses.
Professor Fleenor is a native of Washington County, Virginia. She attended Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee where she earned a B.S. degree in Biology and graduated as valedictorian. Upon the completion of her undergraduate degree she remained at LMU, joining the Physician Assistant program at the DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine. She graduated from the program in 2015 with a Masters of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies. Throughout her studies, Professor Fleenor fulfilled many different leadership roles and was inducted into the Tennessee Epsilon chapter of the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society, as well as, Pi Alpha National Physician Assistant Honor Society.
Professor Fleenor has a love for providing medical care to rural and underserved populations. She was the full time clinician employed at the Mel Leaman Free Clinic at Emory & Henry prior to becoming a full time educator in the Master of Physician Assistant program. She still volunteers there and enjoys working with the clinics patients, clinic staff, volunteer medical providers, and other various clinic volunteers.
Professor Fleenor is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Physician Assistant Education Association, the Virginia Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Association of Clinicians for the Underserved. She was awarded Physician Assistant of the Year by the Virginia Academy of Physician Assistants in 2020.
Professor Fleenor is married to her high school sweetheart and lives with him, their daughter, and their dog on a working cattle farm. In her spare time she enjoys antique shopping, renovating her farmhouse, reading, traveling, and being outdoors.
