• The program has made arrangements to have this completed via the company, Castle Branch; however, this may change
• Some clinical sites may also require separate and more specific background checks and drug screenings.
  • If required, the student is responsible for any associated fees.
• Required within one month of matriculation; a second background check and drug screen will be required prior to clinical rotations; a third may be required prior to the last semester of training. 

• Student health insurance is required of all students and must be secured prior to the first day of class and continued throughout the program.
• In our Aug 2019 poll of the Class of 2020 clinical phase students, the average monthly health insurance expenses was $417.95 (with a range from $0.00 to $3000.00).

• Many different health insurance vendors exist. Some resources include: The federal government’s official ACA website: healthcare.gov (you may be eligible to enroll out of the typical enrollment period); the health insurance marketplace website: healthcare.org.

• Students can expect significant additional costs for room and board, utilities, transportation, clothing, miscellaneous school supplies, etc.
• Living expenses can vary greatly depending on individual student choices.
• In our Aug 2019 poll of Class of 2020 clinical phase students, average monthly living and other expenses were reported as follows:
  • Average monthly housing cost was 572.50 (with a range from $190.00 to $900.00).
  • Average monthly utilities expenses were $103.50 (range from $0.00 to $250.00)
  • Average monthly transportation cost (for clinical rotations) was $209.50 (with a range from $100.00 to $320.00).
    • Here it is important to remember that, unlike most PA program, our students do not have to relocate for their clinical rotations as all of our rotations can be completed in the area, with an average mileage from campus to clinical site of 33.5 miles (range from 1 mile to 69 miles).
  • Average monthly clothing expense was $92.50 (with a range from $0.00 to $300.00).
    • The School of Health Sciences graduate programs require students adhere to a business casual dress code. This may require the purchase of additional clothing to accommodate the dress code requirement.
    • In the didactic phase of studies, students are required to purchase an long white lab coat and scrubs for Anatomy (disposed after the course is completed) and additional scrubs for Clinical Skills.
    • In the clinical phase of studies, no additional clothing expenses are required.
    • Incurred monthly costs include laundry and, if needed, dry cleaning expenses.

• Medical Estimated costs: $866.00 (includes basic equipment and stethoscope)
• We have made arrangements with a vendor for a discounted group-purchasing all-inclusive medical equipment kit price for our students; students are required to make their purchase via this vendor to ensure the lowest price and also ensure all students have the same equipment.
• In order to receive equipment prior to the first day of class, students should purchase the medical kit prior to April.
