Tuition & Fees for the Class of 2026 (May 2024 matriculation) Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program

Direct Costs

  • Application and Deposit (subject to change)
    • Non-refundable CASPA Supplemental Application Fee: $30
    • Non-refundable Program Admission Acceptance Deposit: $1,000.00 (100% applied to tuition)
  • Per Semester, Annual and Total Tuition

    Below is the set tuition for the Class of 2026 (matriculating in May 2024)*

    • Program per semester tuition (there are no additional lab or course fees): $13,432.00.
    • Total tuition for year one of the MPAS program (3 semesters) is $40,296.00
    • Total tuition for year two of the MPAS program (3 semesters) is $40,296.00
    • Total tuition for year three of the MPAS program (1 semester) = $13,432.00.
    • Total tuition for the entire 27-month MPAS program (all 7 semesters combined) is $94,024.00

    Tuition rates for future cohorts may be subject to change; however, a cohort’s tuition rate will remain the same for the entirety of their 27-month (7 semesters) program. In addition to tuition, students are required to pay a technology fee and activity fee per semester. Although tuition prices freeze, fees are subject to change annually

  • Other Required Fees (subject to change)
    • College Technology Fee*:  $1,155.00 total (includes $165.00 per semester fee - totaling $495.00 for year 1; $495.00 for year 2, $165.00 for year 3)

    • College Activities Fee*: $700.00 total (includes $100.00 per semester fee - totaling $300.00 for year 1; $300.00 for year 2; $100 for year 3)

    • College Graduation Fee*: $200.00 graduation fee paid in last semester of the program.

  • AAPA Student Membership (required for all students upon matriculation)
    • One-time fee of $75.00.
    • Students receive a myriad of membership benefits

  • AHA CPR/BLS for Healthcare Providers Training (required for all students prior to matriculation)
    • Estimated cost: $45.00 for the course- blended courses available
    • Cost varies but can be as low as $8.00 for skills training + $16.00 for the textbook.
    • The certification lasts for 2 years. 
    • All students must have AHA CPR/BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers prior to matriculation and must maintain certification throughout their program’s duration. 
    • Students will need to be recertified prior to their clinical phase of training to ensure no lapse in certification.

  • Background Check and Drug Screen (required for all students prior to matriculation)
    • Estimated total cost: $120.00
    • The program has made arrangements to have this completed via the company, Castle Branch; however, this may change
    • Some clinical sites may also require separate and more specific background checks and drug screenings.
      • If required, the student is responsible for any associated fees.
    • Required within one month of matriculation; a second background check and drug screen will be required prior to clinical rotations; a third may be required prior to the last semester of training. 
  • Health Insurance (required for all students at time of matriculation)
    • Student health insurance is required of all students and must be secured prior to the first day of class and continued throughout the program.
    • In our Aug 2019 poll of the Class of 2020 clinical phase students, the average monthly health insurance expenses was $417.95 (with a range from $0.00 to $3000.00).
    • Many different health insurance vendors exist. Some resources include: The federal government’s official ACA website: healthcare.gov (you may be eligible to enroll out of the typical enrollment period); the health insurance marketplace website: healthcare.org.

  • Living and Other Expenses
    • Students can expect significant additional costs for room and board, utilities, transportation, clothing, miscellaneous school supplies, etc.
    • Living expenses can vary greatly depending on individual student choices.
    • In our Aug 2019 poll of Class of 2020 clinical phase students, average monthly living and other expenses were reported as follows:
      • Average monthly housing cost was 572.50 (with a range from $190.00 to $900.00).
      • Average monthly utilities expenses were $103.50 (range from $0.00 to $250.00)
      • Average monthly transportation cost (for clinical rotations) was $209.50 (with a range from $100.00 to $320.00).
        • Here it is important to remember that, unlike most PA program, our students do not have to relocate for their clinical rotations as all of our rotations can be completed in the area, with an average mileage from campus to clinical site of 33.5 miles (range from 1 mile to 69 miles).
      • Average monthly clothing expense was $92.50 (with a range from $0.00 to $300.00).
        • The School of Health Sciences graduate programs require students adhere to a business casual dress code. This may require the purchase of additional clothing to accommodate the dress code requirement.
        • In the didactic phase of studies, students are required to purchase an long white lab coat and scrubs for Anatomy (disposed after the course is completed) and additional scrubs for Clinical Skills.
        • In the clinical phase of studies, no additional clothing expenses are required.
        • Incurred monthly costs include laundry and, if needed, dry cleaning expenses.
  • Medical Equipment Kit (required for all students at time of matriculation)
    • Medical Estimated costs: $866.00 (includes basic equipment and stethoscope)
    • We have made arrangements with a vendor for a discounted group-purchasing all-inclusive medical equipment kit price for our students; students are required to make their purchase via this vendor to ensure the lowest price and also ensure all students have the same equipment.
    • In order to receive equipment prior to the first day of class, students should purchase the medical kit prior to April.

  • PA Student Malpractice Insurance (required for all students at time of matriculation)
  • Personal Laptop Computer/Tablet (required for all students at time of matriculation)
    • Estimated cost: $800.00.
    • All students are required to have their own Windows or MacOS X laptop.
  • Scrubs and Long Lab Coat (required for skills labs and anatomy labs)
    • Estimated costs: $100.00
    • All students must have and wear navy blue colored scrubs and a long white lab coat while in the cadaver labs.
    • All students must wear navy blue scrubs with embroidered name & logo for clinical skills labs
  • Textbooks
    • Estimated costs: $900.00
    • The cost reflects the purchase of texts not available via our electronic resources
    • Many of our required texts are available as etexts at no additional cost to students resulting in significant savings) and required subscriptions (e.g., American Family Physician) for specific courses.

National Health Service Corps

The NHSC, established in 1972,  is a federal program through the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, the Health Resources & Services Administration ( HRSA ), and the Bureau of Health Workforce offering financial aid & other support to primary care providers & healthcare sites in underserved communities.

The NHSC offers both scholarships and loan repayment opportunities to Physician Assistants, Physicians, Dentists, Nurse Practitioners and Certified Nurse Midwifes. Additionally, the NHSC assists clinical sites in recruiting & retaining qualified, patient-centered, culturally sensitive healthcare providers with a mission to serve the underserved.

The IHS Loan Repayment Program funds IHS clinicians to repay their eligible health profession education loans in exchange for an initial two-year service commitment to practice in health facilities serving American Indian and Alaska Native communities.

Student Opportunities Offered by USPHS Commissioned Corps 

The U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps offers an excellent service opportunity for PA students during their last year of training via the Senior Commissioned Officer Student Training and Extern Program (SRCOSTEP).  The program is highly competitive but less well-known than many other opportunities.

The SAAAPA’s website offers information on financial aid resources for Physician Assistant Students, including several potential student scholarships as well as information about education funding sources and loan repayment options.

PA Foundation (scholarships ranging from $1000.00 to $2000.00 for students having completed one semester or more of PA studies)
