Here are some great reasons you should consider becoming part of the cohort:

  • You’ll have opportunities in and outside of the classroom to build relationships with faculty mentors.
  • You’ll receive guaranteed spots in first-year science courses relevant to your intended major.
  • You’ll receive structured support for project-based learning and independent research, through the STEM-themed first-year seminar (Transitions I) and later departmental research offerings.
  • Mentored research opportunities and additional interaction with science faculty
  • E&H science students go on to do great things after graduation. Example placements of recent graduates include public school science teacher, software engineer, analytical chemist, laboratory technician at Eastman Chemical Company or Duke University, research assistant at The American Chestnut Foundation, graduate school at Virginia Tech, medical school at the University of Tennessee, and veterinary school at Lincoln Memorial University.
