LiveWhale CMS Help

LiveWhale is the content management system (CMS) used to keep the Emory & Henry College website current, informative, engaging, and interesting. It’s designed to be as easy as possible for our staff, faculty, and students to use.

The Basics

There’s a library of support documents at docs.livewhale.com, and some of the most helpful documentation links are included in this section. First, let’s cover some basic operating instructions.

Logging In

There’s an “Editor Login“ link in the footer of every page of the site. Click on that link to login using your username and password.

This will be your single sign-on username and password. You do not need to include the “@ehc.edu” at the end of your username. For example “ehenry” would be the username.

Editing Pages

If you log in using the Editor Login footer link, you’ll be returned to the last site page you visited. The only difference will be the CMS toolbar at the top of the page.

Static Content

To edit one of your pages, just go to that page. If you’re authorized to edit the page, you’ll see an “Edit Page” link at the top left; click that to begin page editing! You can edit static text and images on your pages this way. You may see blue bars of information when editing your pages and these are called “widgets” that display dynamic content.

Go to the “Editing Pages” for more in-depth information about editing static content as well.

Dynamic Content

All dynamic content is created and managed in the Dashboard, blue button on top right. Examples of popular dynamic content include:

Accessibility

Web content editors must ensure they are following accessibility standards when creating content. These guidelines seek to improve the experience for those with visual, auditory, memory, context, or physical mobility impairments. Learn more about website accessibility here.
