Afternoon of Monday, August 7: Inclement weather is expected until 5 p.m. Check weather forecasts and campus email for updates. Move to interior spaces as needed for safety.

Due to an issue unrelated to Emory & Henry, the Virginia Department of Forestry was unable to perform the controlled burn of dead grass at the cemetery (located between Linden Street and Elm Street) near campus yesterday. Therefore, the department has scheduled to perform this task today, April 13, around 4 p.m. The area is being prepared for the planting of native plants and flowers as part of a partnership with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Partners for Fish and Wildlife program. You can follow updates on the cemetery project on the E&H Alumni website.

Homecoming events will go on as scheduled on Saturday. The football game is now moved to Friday at 3 p.m. due to forecasted weather conditions. E&H Rugby will play at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday in Fred Selfe Stadium. Check the schedule at www.ehc.edu/homecoming.

Weather Update

The Emory & Henry College Main Campus will operate on a two-hour delay Tuesday, December 11. As a result, the Tuesday/Thursday inclement Weather Schedule is in effect. Please see below the Inclement Weather Schedule for Tuesday, December 11th, 2018 per the Student Handbook.

8:00 a.m. classes will run from 10:00 a.m. – 10:55 a.m.
9:30 a.m. classes will run from 11:00 a.m. – 11:55 a.m.
11:00 a.m. classes will run from 12:00 p.m. – 12:55 p.m.
Remaining class times will not change. 

The Dining Hall at Van Dyke will open at 8:00 a.m. for breakfast. Stinger’s Café and Hometown will be open as well. WOW will open for breakfast at 9:00 a.m.

The Emory & Henry College Equestrian Center will open tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. Anything before 1:00 p.m. is cancelled.  

The Emory & Henry School of Health Sciences at the Marion Campus will also operate on a two-hour delay tomorrow. Classes will begin at 10:00 a.m.

Dr. Oleski Miranda Navarro Uses Literature to Study the History and People’s Narratives of His Hometown in Venezuela

While his research is personal, he says it also informs his teaching. “I share my research with my students to help explain important issues,” he says, noting that he assigns literature in his courses to better understand the history of Hispanic groups.

“We will always be able to hear the stories of these different people who came from different places,” he says. “I study the human side of these people, not just corporate reports.” Read more.

Spafford uses her performance experiences to mentor her students, sharing that she still has stage fright, too, because there are more aspects to performing than most people realize. “My body.
